Your photo stays on this device. The first run downloads the AI model and runtime.

Best with one clear foreground subject. Hair, glass, shadows and busy backgrounds can need further editing. Speed depends on your device.

1. Choose a photo

Start with a sharp picture and a clear subject.

2. Check the cutout

Compare the original with the transparent result.

3. Save your PNG

Download the result with a transparent background.

How to remove a photo background

  1. Choose a sharp JPG, PNG or WebP image with one clear foreground subject.
  2. Select Remove background. The first run downloads the model and runtime; later runs in this tab reuse the engine.
  3. Compare both previews. Check hair, fingers, thin edges, glass and small objects.
  4. Select Download PNG to save the transparent result. Keep your original file.

What to expect

The tool estimates the main subject with U2NetP. It works best when the subject stands apart from the background. Fine hair, similar colours, transparent materials, multiple subjects and clutter can produce missing areas or leftover background. This version does not include a manual erase or restore brush. Review every result; perfect cutouts are not guaranteed.

Why does the first run take longer?

Your browser downloads an approximately 4.6 MB model plus the WebAssembly runtime. Processing runs on your device and depends on its memory and speed. Keep this page open. If processing fails, try a smaller photograph or a current browser.

Are my photos uploaded?

No. The selected photo is decoded and processed locally in this tool. Normal website requests still go to our hosting provider. Runtime files load from jsDelivr and model files from Hugging Face, which receive normal connection information such as your IP address. These downloads do not contain your selected photo. Browser caching may retain downloaded model files. See our Privacy Policy.

What are the limits?

Use JPG, PNG or WebP up to 10 MB and 24 megapixels. Output is scaled down when necessary to a maximum of 2048 pixels on the longest side and is downloaded as PNG. The original colours and pixels within that working resolution are combined with the estimated transparency mask; the tool does not generate a replacement face or subject.

Why does the background look like squares?

The checkerboard is a preview of transparency. It is not baked into the downloaded PNG. Some apps display transparency against white; choose an app that supports transparent PNGs to place the cutout on another background.
